KAUST alumnus Dr Faisal Nawab (MS '11), an Assistant Professor at UC Irvine won a Facebook award for data infrastructure research. The award will support the research of Dr Nawab and his colleagues in building large-scale data management systems that span edge and cloud computing infrastructures.

Dr Nawab is one of KAUST's Founding Class alumni, completing his MS in computer science with a thesis on how to build wireless network infrastructure (supervised by KAUST Professor Base Shihada). Dr Nawab completed his PhD at UC Santa Barbara in Computer Science in 2015.
