Dr Amira Alazmi Appointed Dean of Scientific Research

Our congratulations to Chemical Science alumna Dr Amira Alazmi, on her recent appointment as Dean of Scientific Research at the University of Hafr Albatin, Saudi Arabia. She was previously the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs, and an Assistant Professor within the Chemical Science Department, of the University of Hafr Albatin and University Colleges at Nairiyah.

Dr Alazmi graduated from KAUST in 2018 with her PhD, and in 2014 with her MS, and studied with Professor Pedro Da Costa. Just prior to graduating with her PhD, she won the Nanoscale poster prize at the Royal Society of Chemistry Symposium 2018: Nanotechnology for Energy and Environment in London.

As a recipient of the prestigious Ibn Khaldun Fellowship for Saudi Arabian Women at MIT in 2019 and 2020, she focused her research on electrochemistry cell design and development of electrode material for flow batteries.
