Chinese Alumni Support KAUST during COVID-19

25 August, 2020

Alumni and friends from China have generously supplied anti-pandemic materials to the KAUST community. 2,000 disposable face masks, and the provision of technical advice from alumni to KAUST officials are among the support.

Alumnus and volunteer leader Jian Pan, MS ’11, President of the China Alumni Chapter, contacted Alumni Affairs in late March to ask how the Chinese alumni community could support KAUST during COVID-19.

Jian’s email was sent after watching a video of President Chan addressing the KAUST community. Jian and his colleagues on the Chapter Executive (Wang Lei, MS ‘11, Yan Feng, MS ’10, and Felix Lau, PhD ’18, MS ‘10) quickly mobilized their alumni networks throughout China to think of ways to help their alma mater.

“It is our great pleasure to offer our help at this time and all of us would like to see KAUST return to normal,” said Jian.  “It shows that our alumni can start to give back to our alma mater, and also illustrates the success of KAUST’s education for previous students.”
